Barrett visits with constituents

MILLERTON — Determined to keep an open dialogue with her constituents throughout the year, New York State Assemblymember Didi Barrett (D-106) paid a visit to Irving Farm Coffee Roasters in Millerton on Friday, May 17, as part of her seventh annual Diner Stop Tour. Running from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., there was a good turnout of residents from Millerton, North East, the Webutuck Central School District and beyond.

“We had a great conversation with a lot of people on a whole range of subjects,” Barrett said, “from the library, the school district, the opioid epidemic and more to come.”

“The idea is if we come to your town, you’re more likely to come to us with your concerns and with what’s going on,” said Tom McCarthy, a legislative aide in Barrett’s office. “We try to go to every town every year.”

“I think she’s very effective — there’s a lot of communication there,” said Millerton resident DeLora Brooks, who approached Barrett to talk about a variety of subjects, including the Webutuck school district, the exodus of people from the school system and the progress the village has made with installing a sewer system.

Constituents may also contact Barrett at her office at 845-454-1703 or via email at barrettd@nyassembly.gov.
