Collins Field needs work

Eddie Collins Memorial Park has been a focal point in Millerton for over a century. During that time it has undergone changes, adapting to the community’s recreational needs and desires.

Age has taken its toll on numerous facilities, including a pool, which had to be permanently closed. Upgrades and improvements are required to ensure the park remains a healthy, viable resource for residents and visitors.

The public has been invited to attend two informal presentations of a redesigned Eddie Collins Memorial Park. The first presentation happened on Wednesday, Oct. 9, and another is set for Sunday, Oct. 13 (1 to 3 p.m.), at the NorthEast-Millerton Library Annex. Attendees will be able to view the conceptual master plan, a table-top model and provide written feedback. Members of the Eddie Collins Memorial Park Revitalization Committee will be present to answer questions.

Cope for town clerk

I would like to take this opportunity to endorse Lisa Cope for town clerk.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Lisa for many years, initially when she served as Planning Board secretary. In that role, Lisa served the town and the Planning Board diligently and always went above and beyond to help applicants through the sometimes daunting application process. Lisa ensured that the records under her management were well organized, a skill that has served her well as town clerk.

More recently, I’ve interacted with Lisa as a town resident. My visits to the Town Hall are always made more pleasant by Lisa’s friendly and helpful attitude and her dedication to providing whatever help is needed.

I’m a registered Democrat, but town clerk isn’t (and shouldn’t be) a political position. Lisa will have my vote.

I’m for Pulver

I am supporting Dutchess County Legislator Gregg Pulver (R-19) as our representative in the Legislature.

As the Legislature chairman, he was able to pass a farmland protection bill, a term limit bill, independent redistricting and the strongest ethics law in New York state.

He has been a farmer all of his life and he is more than aware of the needs of the agricultural community.
