Robert ‘Bob’ Ernest Lee

LAKEVILLE — Robert “Bob” Ernest Lee, 56, peacefully left this earth on July 18, 2015.

Bob loved his daughter, Jen, his two grandchildren, Alexa and Brayden, and his family intensely, taking great joy in their happiness and pride in their accomplishments.

A resilient man of steadfast loyalty to his family and friends, Bob was always willing to lend a hand, turn a wrench, crack a joke or wrestle with his grandkids or many nieces and nephews. He enjoyed being outside in good weather working on his beloved ’65 Chevy “blackie” or in the vegetable garden.

Bob was born on May 21, 1959, in Sharon, where he grew up until moving to the family dairy farm in Lakeville.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer “Jen” Meach; his two grandchildren, Alexa and Brayden Meach of North Canaan; his father, Herbert Lee Sr. of Sharon; his brothers, Herbie of New York City and Kenny of Sharon; his sisters, Debbie Murtagh and her husband, Jack, Kim Carberry  and her husband, Tom, and Cindy Nelson and her husband, Eric, all of Sharon, and Terri Considine and her husband, Ken, of Salisbury; many nieces and nephews; his uncle, Abel Lee Jr., with whom he resided, and his uncles Jim and John Lee and Bill Stapleton; his aunts, Ellen Mahone, Louise Parenteau, Eileen Klauman and Patty Gersch; and many, many cousins.

Bob was predeceased by both his maternal and paternal grandparents and his beloved mother, Betty, as well as his Aunt Rosemarie.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Lee Farm off Dimond Road on Saturday, July 25, at 1 p.m. 

Please bring a plate and a chair. 

Memorial donations may be made to the Salisbury Bank & Trust in care of the Robert E. Lee Grandchildren’s Fund for their education.

Arrangements are under the care of the Kenny Funeral Home in Sharon.

Fire crews respond to reported explosions in Kent

KENT — A fire broke out inside a downtown general store in Kent Sunday night, prompting reports of explosions and drawing a swift response that prevented wider damage, according to authorities.

Kent Fire Marshal Timothy Limbos said Monday that the blaze erupted at 4 North Main Street — home to Woodford’s General Store — and was first reported just after 11:30 p.m. when Litchfield County Dispatch received 911 calls about flames and explosions in the area.

Man, 60, dies in single-car crash on Route 272 in Norfolk

Norfolk fire and ambulance crews responded to a one-vehicle crash on Route 272 (Litchfield Road) shortly after 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14.

NORFOLK — A 60-year-old Oregon man is dead after a single-car crash Friday, Nov. 14, according to Connecticut State Police.

Kevin Scott, of Portland, was driving a Ford Escape southbound on Route 272 (Litchfield Road) when he exited the roadway while negotiating a curve and struck a utility pole. The Ford rolled onto its side and the airbags deployed. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and there were no passengers in the car.

GNH collides with Holy Cross

WINSTED — Holy Cross High School won 36-20 against the Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic co-op football team Saturday, Nov. 15.

The hard-fought contest was won in the air. Holy Cross QB Brady Lombardo completed 16/31 passes for 309 yards with five touchdowns and one interception.
