Torrington’s Keiser one-hits Outlaws in convincing win

TORRINGTON­ — The Torrington Rebels defeated the Lakeville Outlaws 2-0 on June 28 at at Fuessenich Park.Matt Keiser pitched a complete game one-hitter, propelling the Rebels to a win, in what seemed like a one-sided game.Keiser confused the Outlaw bats, striking out five, while also being efficient by only walking one batter the entire game.The Rebels defense assisted Keiser in shutting out the Outlaws. The bats for the Rebels produced eight hits and two runs off opposing pitcher Brandon Coe.Alan Fredriksson provided the key hits for Torrington, going 2 for 3 with an RBI single in the first inning and an RBI double in the sixth.Other notable hitting perfomances came from Angelo Calabrese (2-3) and Bryan Failla (1-3). They each scored one run off of Fredriksson’s hits. With the win, the Rebels’ record improves to 5-8.

Salisbury honors veterans in snowy ceremony

SALISBURY — About 30 people turned out for the traditional Veterans Day ceremony at Salisbury Town Hall on a cold and snowy Tuesday morning, Nov. 11.

Chris Ohmen handled the colors and Chris Williams ran the ceremony.

North Canaan gives gratitude to veterans

NORTH CANAAN — Students at North Canaan Elementary School saluted servicemen and servicewomen at a Veterans Day ceremony Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Eighteen veterans were honored, many of whom attended the ceremony and were connected to the school as relatives of students or staff.

When longtime arts administrator Amy Wynn became the first executive director of the American Mural Project (AMP) in 2018, the nonprofit was part visionary art endeavor, part construction site and part experiment in collaboration.

Today, AMP stands as a fully realized arts destination, home to the world’s largest indoor collaborative artwork and a thriving hub for community engagement. Wynn’s departure, marked by her final day Oct. 31, closes a significant chapter in the organization’s evolution. Staff and supporters gathered the afternoon before to celebrate her tenure with stories, laughter and warm tributes.
