Bar owner surrenders to Winchester Police

WINSTED — Robert Perugini, co-owner of the Red Rooster Café on Main Street, turned himself in at police headquarters Tuesday after a warrant was issued for his arrest for an alleged brawl Dec. 8 with his business partner.

Perugini was charged with first-degree assault and breach of peace in connection with the incident, in which Red Rooster co-owner Robert Ciocchetti was hospitalized with a fractured skull and intracranial bleeding. Ciocchetti has since recovered from the injuries.

Winchester police Chief Nicholas Guerriero confirmed Wednesday that Perugini was cooperative with police Tuesday and that the delay in the arrest resulted from a lengthy investigation. “It was time-consuming, he said.

Perugini, who has kept the Red Rooster open for the past several weeks, was released on a court-issued bond of $35,000 pending a Feb. 16 appearance at Bantam Superior Court.
