Ambulance to charge fee for service

FALLS VILLAGE — The Falls Village Volunteer Ambulance Squad, faced with the need for a new ambulance, will soon be charging for services.

Two meetings will be held Thursday, Nov. 4, to explain the new procedures. The meetings will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Senior Center and 6 p.m. at Town Hall.

Ambulance Captain Linda Paviol said that what individuals are charged depends on a formula set by the state. Insurance generally covers most ambulance costs, but there may be some clients who get an unexpected bill.

Paviol stressed that none of the money charged to patients will go to anything other than replacing the 10-year-old ambulance and other equipment needs.

“We are still a volunteer service, and there are no plans to hire personnel.

As you walk through the downstairs rooms, you’ll see dozens of examples from her needlework sampler collection. Some are simple and crude, others are sophisticated and complex. Some are framed, some lie loose on the dining table.

Many of them have museum cards, explaining where those samplers came from and why they are important.
