Homegrown artists at Cornwall Parish House

CORNWALL — The Parish House in Cornwall unveiled a new art show on Sunday, April 16, featuring the work of two homegrown artists. Lori Blakey Welles and her brother David Blakey teamed up to present their watercolors, photographs, and drawings for the show entitled “Windowsill Art: Unframed Frames of Mind.”

Welles and Blakey are fourth generation Cornwallians and both attended local schools during their upbringing in Cornwall. They were exposed to the creative nature of Cornwall from an early age as their parents collected locally sourced art.

Both artists were self-taught and driven by their passion to create. Welles said that after acquiring the paintbrushes and cameras the two artists “kept working at it. Not for any other reason but for fun.”

Their work appeared to be largely inspired by the natural beauty found in their hometown. The photos, paintings and sketches all included elements of nature and highlighted the organic allure of the area.

The show will be on display through May 31 and is available for viewing Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or Sundays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Appointments are also available, email theballyhack@gmail.com for more details.
