David Eric ‘Rick’ Finkle

MILLERTON — David Eric “Rick” Finkle, 68, a lifelong Millerton resident, died Aug. 4, 2016, at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y. 

Mr. Finkle was a self-employed painter for many years in the Tri-state area. 

Born Nov. 10, 1947, in Sharon, he was the son of the late Lila B. (Snyder) and Ambrose A. Finkle. 

Rick attended Webutuck High School and was a talented artist, often using charcoal as a medium for his work. 

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be missed by all.

Rick is survived by his daughter, Victoria Delbuono; two grandchildren; two sisters, Sandra and Linda; two brothers, Michael and Ambrose “Bub” Finkle; his great-niece, Lyla Milton and her husband, Jim; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, Amanda and Loren Milton, and his nephews, Landon and Brice.

Funeral services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Scott D. Conklin Funeral Home in Millerton.

On Saturday, Nov. 1, the Race Brook Lodge in Sheffield will celebrate the Mexican Day of the Dead: El Día de los Muertos.

Mexican Day of the Dead takes place the first weekend of November and honors los difuntos (the deceased) with ofrendas (offerings) on an altar featuring photos of loved ones who have passed on. Elements of earth, wind, fire and water are represented with food, papel picada (colorful decorative paper), candles and tequila left for the beloved deceased. The departed are believed to travel from the spirit world and briefly join the living for a night of remembrance and revelry.
