David Robert Klemm

WASHINGTON DEPOT, CONN. — David Robert Klemm, 72, president of Klemm Real Estate in Washington Depot, passed away peacefully March 20, 2010, in Palm Beach, Fla., after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Jan. 12, 1938, in South Bend, Ind.  He attended the University of Notre Dame, and graduated from Indiana University, where he was president of Beta Theta Pi fraternity.

After retiring from an illustrious career in radio broadcasting, David moved to Washington, Conn., in 1977. He and his wife, Carolyn, opened Klemm Real Estate, which became Litchfield County’s premier luxury real estate firm. David served as president and director of marketing for the firm’s five offices and 40 agents until recently, when he handed stewardship over to his two sons.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn (Viccari) Klemm; his son, Peter R. Klemm and daughter-in-law, Christina Klemm; his son, Graham T. Klemm and his partner, Matthew Lynn; and his adored granddaughter, Natalie Klemm.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was intelligent, honest, articulate, good humored and a great communicator. Although a private man, he had countless friends and colleagues who admired his great dignity and the integrity of his life. There will be a private family graveside service.
