Deborah Lynn Wheeler

LAKEVILLE — Deborah Lynn Wheeler, 54, a lifelong area resident, died on Jan. 20, 2018. in Lakeville. 

Debbie was self-employed as a property caretaker, landscaper and bookkeeper and cleaned houses in the Northwest Corner for many years.

Born Dec. 24, 1963, in Sharon, she was the daughter of the late William D. Hopkins and M. Helen Hopkins, who reside in Millerton. 

Debbie graduated from Webutuck High School and furthered her education at Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., where she received an associate degree in business accounting. In her spare time she enjoyed watching NASCAR events on television.

In addition to her mother, Debbie is survived by her brother, William D. Hopkins and his wife, Claudia, of Anderson, S.C.; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many friends. 

Calling hours will be held on Friday, Jan. 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Scott D. Conklin Funeral Home in Millerton. Funeral services will take place at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor William Mayhew will officiate. To send an online condolence, go to www.conklinfuneralhome.com.

Following the memorable benefit reading last season of Charles Busch’s Tony-nominated Broadway hit, “The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife,” the Sharon Playhouse will present a one-night-only staged reading of his riotous comic melodrama “Die Mommie Die!” on Friday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.

The production —a deliciously over-the-top homage to classic Hollywood mid-century thrillers — ­­continues the Playhouse’s artistic partnership with Busch, who reprises his iconic role of the glamorous yet troubled songstress Angela Arden.
