AMENIA — Geoffrey Herbert Cassels, 73, a longtime area resident, died peacefully on Nov. 16, 2014, at his home in Amenia, with his loving family by his side. Mr. Cassels was a certified public accountant and partner at Pricewaterhouse Coopers in New York City for more than 33 years, retiring in 2003.Born Oct. 30, 1941, in Lisbon, Portugal, he was the only child of Herbert and Isobel (Leece) Cassels. Mr. Cassels received his master’s degree from Columbia University in New York City, and he resided in Greenwich Village during his career with PWC. His work took him overseas many times; he lived in England and Hong Kong for a number of years. On May 11, 1988, in Bermuda, he married Daniele Boucheron. Mrs. Cassels survives in Amenia.Mr. Cassels enjoyed traveling and spending time with his loving family. He enjoyed summering in Amenia and became a full-time resident in 2005. He was a member of the New York Athletic Club and the Over-Seas League and was a longstanding parishioner of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Amenia Union.In addition to his beloved wife, Mr. Cassels is survived by his loving children, Julien and Zoe Cassels of Amenia; several cousins; and many nieces and nephews in England.There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Amenia Union, the Rev. Betsy Fisher officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2 Little Jefferson St., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601; or Amnesty International USA, 5 Penn Plaza, New York, NY 10001. Following the memorable benefit reading last season of Charles Busch’s Tony-nominated Broadway hit, “The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife,” the Sharon Playhouse will present a one-night-only staged reading of his riotous comic melodrama “Die Mommie Die!” on Friday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.

The production —a deliciously over-the-top homage to classic Hollywood mid-century thrillers — ­­continues the Playhouse’s artistic partnership with Busch, who reprises his iconic role of the glamorous yet troubled songstress Angela Arden.
