Jackets Shut Down Terryville, 60-40

The Gilbert boys basketball team limited Terryville to six points in each of the first and second periods as they picked up their third win of the season Dec. 19 in Winsted.

Terryville actually jumped out to a 6-4 lead before the Jackets defense took control and held the Kangaroos scoreless until midway through the second period. When the horn sounded ending the first half, Gilbert held a commanding 30-12 lead.

Dan Hicks and Jim Bunel (son of this writer) led the offense with 17 and 16 points, respectively, but for the second game in a row, it was the Jackets’ defense that impressed the most.

The Jackets (3-0) are now off until the day after Christmas, when they return to face a tough Lewis Mills team at the Gilbert gym.
