Dozen years at the helm

To the residents of the town of Pine Plains:

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for affording me the privilege and honor of serving as the town supervisor for the past 12 years.

The years passed quickly with many eventful moments.  My tenure began with a “baptism of fire” having to terminate and discipline a corrupt highway superintendent. Carried on throughout the tumultuous comprehensive plan and zoning debates. Contrary to some beliefs, all decisions were made by the Town Board at open meetings. Just because people chose not to participate or attend meetings did not mean they were not public sessions.

Mostly, I remember the accomplishments that were made including sidewalks, lighting, improvements to the infrastructure, expanding recreation programs and helping fellow residents — whether it be with a cat in a tree or pension issues. Throughout my years as town supervisor I stood by my pledge to keep taxes reasonable while improving the town and services offered. I leave with a clear conscience and no regrets.

The Millerton Fire Company would like to thank all who came to join us for our most recent breakfast fundraiser. We served 175 people.

A special thanks to all who came to help. Without you it cannot happen.
