Peony Vodka continues to create a buzz

MILLERTON — Still flying high from being named Best New Craft Vodka this past summer by Hudson Valley Magazine, Three Meadows Spirit’s Peony Vodka continues to garner praise. The local Hudson Valley product is on store shelves now.

It’s received national press, too, including being mentioned in “O” magazine and by Martha Stewart Weddings.

Being named in the Best in the Hudson Valley poll hasn’t hurt. So acknowledged Three Meadows Spirit owner Leslie Farhangi. That’s because the Best of Hudson Valley contest carries a lot of weight with it in these parts.

Beginning in 2016 on her Millerton farm, Farhangi started the business that “celebrates the pastoral tranquility and pleasures of the carefree country lifestyle” through her vodka.

Peony Vodka balances on the dividing line between two distinct models, including the contrast between a plain vodka and a flavored one. Farhangi said that, like a gin, botanicals are added to her product with the exception of juniper.

With effective marketing and a beautiful product, Peony Vodka has received both local and national acclaim. Along with regional in-store tastings, the product was featured in O, The Oprah Magazine and was recently profiled by Martha Stewart Weddings for a feature on signature cocktails.

As far as the mention from Hudson Valley Magazine, when interviewed after learning of the honor, Farhangi said she was happily surprised.

Looking toward the future of Peony Vodka, Farhangi said that she plans to keep doing what she’s been doing. While her product continues to gain recognition, she explained that the best thing her company can do is have people taste it.

In another bit of news for the locally produced vodka, the product secured a new local distributor in November. Dutchess Beer Distributors in Poughkeespie is now offering the product to a wider group of liquor stores and restaurants located in the Hudson Valley and beyond.

“They’ve been really fantastic to work with,” Farhangi said. “They seem very professional, responsible and down to earth.”
