Peterson sweeps Hotchkiss Ladies Golf Championship

LAKEVILLE — Eileen Peterson made a clean sweep Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Hotchkiss Ladies Golf Championship. She won low net (61), most birdies for the season and broke 100 for the first time. Were there a FedEx cup for ladies amateurs in the Northwest Corner, everyone in the know would say this is Peterson’s year.

Sharing the limelight at the annual championship luncheon served at The Woodland was Carol Dmytryshak, 2009 champion with a low gross of 88. Dmytryshak has a firm grip on this tournament, having won it six times in the past 10 years, including every year since 2006.

The season’s far from over. Come play in the co-ed scramble Monday, Sept. 14, and the nine-hole ladies matches Mondays, Sept. 14 and 21. Start times are 8:30 a.m.-ish.

The students learned about the destructive impact of invasives as they trudged — often bent over — across wet ground on the semblance of a trail, led by Tom Zetterstrom, a North Canaan tree preservationist and member of the Sharon Land Trust.
