Stefan Jan Bibro

SALISBURY — Stefan Jan Bibro, 57, died Aug. 30, 2019, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the loving husband of Karen and devoted father to Lily.

Stefan was born on Oct. 12, 1961, in Bridgeport, Conn., to Doreen (Booker) and Bronislaw Bibro.

A lifelong resident of the area, Stefan attended Salisbury Central School, Indian Mountain School and Salisbury School.

After graduating from Salisbury in 1979, he hitchhiked across the country to attend the University of Redlands in California, making the trip multiple times. Stefan often entertained us with colorful stories of these adventures, and while there, his creative spirit was fed by the beautiful Californian landscape.

Despite studying literature and the arts while at the University of Redlands, Stefan was a gifted arborist by trade. Stefan cared for the trees of the Northwest Corner for the majority of his working career. He truly loved trees and nature, and always astounded people with his wealth of knowledge of the natural world.

Besides spending time with his family, Stefan was an avid golfer, soccer fan and a master of crossword puzzles. A true renaissance man, Stefan could always be found reading a new novel, stretching a new canvas  or taking a stroll by the lake. He was a lifelong New York Giants fan and football fanatic, which made for some interesting Sundays with his Eagles fan wife and daughter.

In addition to his wife and daughter, Stefan is survived by his father, Bronislaw; and his siblings Denise and her husband, Stuart Elvidge, Karen and her husband, Lawerence Stevens, and Krysia; and his brother, Mark. Stefan is also survived by his nieces, Amanda Stevens, Alexis Bibro, Michaela Novakovic; and his nephews, Jason Stevens and Nikolas Novakovic; as well as his cousin, Joyce Stavrolakis.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Doreen.

A celebration of Stefan’s life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7, at 1 p.m. at The White Hart inn in Salisbury. The Kenny Funeral Home in Sharon is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to Lily’s college fund payable to “MOST-Missouri 529 Education Plan” in care of Karen Bibro, P.O. Box 441, Lakeville, CT 06039.
