Anthony John ‘Tony’ Genito Jr.

LAKEVILLE — Anthony John “Tony” Genito Jr., 77, a lifelong area resident, died Jan.18, 2016, at Sharon Hospital.  

Tony operated the family farm on State Line Road in Lakeville from 1958 to 1989, at which time he began performing custom farm work for various farms in the area until August 2015.

For many years he was instrumental in operating Flood’s Equipment Auction in Amenia.

Born Jan. 18, 1939, in Sharon, he was the son of the late Grace (Wiwatowski) and Anthony J. Genito Sr.  

Tony attended Salisbury Central School and was a graduate of Housatonic Valley Regional High School in the Class of 1957. 

He was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lakeville, a church that his family has attended for more than 100 years. Tony will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his beloved sister, Katherine J. Genito of Lakeville; his aunt, Rose Genito of Salisbury; several cousins; and many friends.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Jan. 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Scott D. Conklin Funeral Home, 37 Park Ave., Millerton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Jan.  22, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lakeville. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Opening on Sept. 26, Agatha Christie’s legendary whodunit “The Mousetrap” brings suspense and intrigue to the Sharon Playhouse stage, as the theater wraps up its 2025 Mainstage Season with a bold new take on the world’s longest-running play.

Running from Sept. 26 to Oct. 5, “The Mousetrap” marks another milestone for the award-winning regional theater, bringing together an ensemble of exceptional local talent under the direction of Broadway’s Hunter Foster, who also directed last season’s production of “Rock of Ages." With a career that spans stage and screen, Foster brings a fresh and suspense-filled staging to Christie’s classic.

Plein Air Litchfield returns for a week of art in the open air

For six days this autumn, Litchfield will welcome 33 acclaimed painters for the second year of Plein Air Litchfield (PAL), an arts festival produced by Art Tripping, a Litchfield nonprofit.

The public is invited to watch the artists at work while enjoying the beauty of early fall. The new Belden House & Mews hotel at 31 North St. in Litchfield will host PAL this year.
