Appreciation Liz Locke

While we have all lost Liz Locke in body her spirit still lives on at The Little Guild in the lives and minds of the cats and dogs that we adopt out each year.

Liz was a cornerstone of the organization and ran The Little Benefit Shop for many years. She felt it not only her responsibility but also her duty to generate funds from the sales at the thrift shop for the benefit of the cats and dogs so that they could be spayed and neutered and well looked after until they were adopted out into welcoming homes in the Northwest Corner.

Liz came to The Little Guild more than 40 years ago and from there spread her passion for the welfare of animals to all those around her; the shop was the greatest manifestation of this passion as for many years it was Liz’s personal domain, managed by Liz with the help of her hand-picked volunteers.

As the Rev. Micki Nunn-Miller stated so eloquently at the Service of Celebration, Cornwall was extremely fortunate that Sergeant Locke brought his G.I. bride back to Cornwall. Similarly, we can say that The Little Guild was extremely lucky to have Liz Locke take us under her wing.

While we all lament the passing of Liz, we also celebrate the joy she brought, and her memory will continue to bring, to the lives of so many cats and dogs who all deserve better.
