Candidate debate for 64th and 30th districts Oct. 12

FALLS VILLAGE — The Lakeville Journal and the League of Women Voters of Litchfield County will once again co-sponsor a candidates’ debate for those running for the state 64th House and 30th Senate districts. All are invited to attend this open and free event.

It will be held at Housatonic Valley Regional High School in Room 133 at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12. The moderator of the debate will be Pat Donovan of Litchfield, a longtime member of the League, who has helped with previous debates held in the Northwest Corner and throughout the county.

The candidates for the state House 64th District are Democrat Maria Horn of Lakeville and incumbent Republican Brian Ohler of North Canaan. The two vying for the Senate 30th District seat are Democrat David Lawson of New Milford and incumbent Republican Craig Miner of Litchfield.

The event will be videotaped by CATV 6 Cable TV, and recorded by National Public Radio station WHDD in Sharon. It will air regularly until the election on Nov. 6. The media questioner will be Lakeville Journal Executive Editor Cynthia Hochswender, and there will be at least one student questioner from the high school. There will also be questions taken from the audience and directed to the candidates by the moderator.
