Emily Sue Lynch

SHARON — Emily Sue Lynch of Sharon died peacefully after a long illness, on April 3, 2018.  

She was born in 1937 in New Haven, Conn., to Roger and Jean Montgomery. She grew up in Madison, Conn., and spent every summer of her childhood and youth in Hadlyme, Conn., with her grandparents.  

She graduated from the Westtown School and Connecticut College.  

She moved to her farm on East Street in Sharon in 1966 when she married John Lynch, and has lived there since.  She also resided part-time in Manhattan and in Jackson, Wyo., during those years. 

She raised her children in Sharon and was a long-time member the Sharon Woman’s Club and the Sharon Country Club.  

Most importantly, she loved her family and her dogs very much.  

Sue is survived by her husband, John; and her two sons, Jake of Hong Kong and Michael of Sharon, as well as their wives Tiffany and Carol; her grandchildren, Anna Lee and Conrad; and her two step-daughters, Mybl and Elizabeth and a host of extended family and friends.  A memorial service will be held for her this summer.

WOODBURY — Nonnewaug High School claimed twin titles in the Berkshire League soccer tournament finals.

The school's girls and boys teams were named league champions after finishing the regular season with the best win/loss records. Winning the tournaments earned each team a plaque and added to the program's success in 2025.

On Saturday, Nov. 1, the Race Brook Lodge in Sheffield will celebrate the Mexican Day of the Dead: El Día de los Muertos.

Mexican Day of the Dead takes place the first weekend of November and honors los difuntos (the deceased) with ofrendas (offerings) on an altar featuring photos of loved ones who have passed on. Elements of earth, wind, fire and water are represented with food, papel picada (colorful decorative paper), candles and tequila left for the beloved deceased. The departed are believed to travel from the spirit world and briefly join the living for a night of remembrance and revelry.
