New teacher hired for kindergarten

CORNWALL — A new kindergarten teacher has been hired for the coming school year at Cornwall Consolidated.

School board members voted unanimously at the May meeting to approve the hiring of Allison Bryant. Pending contract signing, Bryant will come on board in a three-quarter teaching position for the school’s single kindergarten class. The Lakeville resident has a master’s degree and is currently the in-house substitute at Sharon Center School. She will replace Darleene Wadhams, who is retiring after 37 years at the school.

Meanwhile, a new art teacher is being sought. Kathy Good is resigning at the end of the school year. An accomplished landscape artist, Good will seek different opportunities. The Region One superintendent’s office is currently interviewing candidates for the position.
