NickBee’s expands its services

MILLERTON — NickBee’s Eco Store has expanded its services to include laser jet printer repair.Toby Boyce, a technician at the popular store, has been trained and certified to fix HP laser jet printers, install maintenance kits and perform routine upkeep. Boyce is also able to work on other laser jet printer brands including Canon, Lexmark and Xerox. The shop is owned by businesswoman Nicola Russell; the business has been operating for two years come August.NickBee’s decided to offer this service after many customers asked about printer repair services.Boyce plans to be certified this autumn to fix copiers as well.The store guarantees that customers will get the chance to talk to a technician about printer problems within an hour. On-location service calls for repair will be made by the next day.Customers are welcome to bring their printer directly to the shop for faster repairs and to save on service calls.NickBee’s is best known for its low-cost, eco-friendly ink cartridge refills. The store also offers eco-friendly gifts, stationary and natural dog products.The South Center Street shop keeps its prices low by maintaining a low overhead and by passing along savings to the customers.“Never hesitate to ask NickBee’s to do anything. On Tuesday, April 9, The Bardavon 1869 Opera House in Poughkeepsie was the setting for a talk between Elizabeth Lesser and Anne Lamott, with the focus on Lamott’s newest book, “Somehow: Thoughts on Love.”

A best-selling novelist, Lamott shared her thoughts about the book, about life’s learning experiences, as well as laughs with the audience. Lesser, an author and co-founder of the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, interviewed Lamott in a conversation-like setting that allowed watchers to feel as if they were chatting with her over a coffee table.

The home in Sharon that Alexandra Peters and her husband, Fred, have owned for the past 20 years feels like a mini museum. As you walk through the downstairs rooms, you’ll see dozens of examples from her needlework sampler collection. Some are simple and crude, others are sophisticated and complex. Some are framed, some lie loose on the dining table.

Many of them have museum cards, explaining where those samplers came from and why they are important.
