Police Blotter: Troop B

The following information was provided by the Connecticut State Police at Troop B. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. 

 

Failure to secure a load

On June 6 at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Main Street in Salisbury several rocks fell from the bed of a 2004 Ford F550 driven by Chelsea Bottum, 29, of Norfolk  and struck the windshield of a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Cindy Miner, 27, of Winsted. Bottum was issued a written warning for failure to secure a load.

Following too close

On June 7 at approximately 2 p.m. on Route 44 in Norfolk a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Donna Urie, 49, of North Canaan stopped to make a left turn. The 2014 Toyota Tacoma driven by William Young, 85, of Colebrook was unable to stop in time and struck the rear of the Jeep. Young was issued an infraction for following too close.

Fatal accident

On June 7 at approximately 6 p.m. on Route 41 in Salisbury a 2009 Subaru Forester driven by Dominick Avellino, 74 , of Lee, Mass., struck a tree. Avellino was transported to Sharon Hospital where he was pronounced dead. This case remains under investigation. 

Failure to grant right of way

On June 7 at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Blackberry Street in Norfolk an emergency police vehicle, with emergency lights and siren activated, driven by Jeremy Ribadeneyra, 33, of Middletown, Conn., was turning left onto Route 44 and was struck by a 2014 Subraru Forester driven by Joel Lively, 29, of Torrington that had previously stopped to yield. Lively was issued a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.

Following too close

On June 8 at approximately 5 p.m. on New Hartford Road in Barkhamsted a vehicle slowed for traffic ahead.  A 2013 Ford Econoline driven by Bryan Anthony Nordone, 26,  of Barkhamsted, fourth in a series of cars following the vehicle, struck a 2015 Jeep Wrangler driven by Brianna Nordone, 26, also of Barkhamsted, causing a chain reaction. The Jeep struck a 2013 Chrysler Sebring  driven by Brian Richard Myers, 22, of Manchester, Conn., which struck the first vehicle. The first vehicle left the scene. There were no reported injuries. Bryan Anthony Nordone was issued an infraction for following too close.

Rolling parked vehicle

On June 9 at 6 p.m. on Shepard Road in Norfolk a parked, unoccupied 2014 Subaru Outback registered to Suzanne Hinman rolled out of the Norfolk Fire Department parking lot after being left in neutral, across Shepard Road and into the right rear of a 2008 Saab 9-3 Aero registered to Edward Barron. 

Disorderly conduct

On June 10 at approximately 8 p.m. Timothy O’Connor, 52, of Harwinton, Conn., was transported to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital for medical treatment from injuries sustained following an active disturbance on Morgan Brook Drive in Barkhamsted. O’Connor was released and charged with disorderly conduct. He was scheduled to appear in Torrington Superior Court on June 11.

Disorderly conduct

On June 10 at approximately 8 p.m. Robert Latonie, 55, of Barkhamsted was charged with disorderly conduct and assault in the third degree following an investigation into a non-active domestic disturbance on New Hartford Road in Barkhamsted. Latonie was later found to have an extraditable warrant out of Arizona.  Latonie was scheduled to appear in Torrington Superior Court on both June 10 and 11.

Evading responsibility

On June 11 at approximately midnight on Old New Hartford Road in Barkhamsted the Winsted Police Department investigated an accident involving a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta registered to Robert Lewis Glarner, 64, of Pearisburg, Va., that had occurred approximately two hours prior. The Volkswagen damaged the lawn of 17 Old New Hartford Road and side-swiped tree before coming to rest half out of the travel portion of the road. Glarner was issued a misdemeanor for failure to maintain lane and for evading responsibility by not calling law enforcement to report an accident involving property damage.

Improper turn

On June 11 at approximately 1 p.m. on Route 44 in Barkhamsted a 2013 Audi A7 driven by Brian Raymond Daddario, 18, of Suffield, Conn., unsuccessfully made a right hand turn at a high speed and struck a metal beam guardrail. Daddario was issued an infraction for making an improper turn. 

Intent to sell heroin

On June 12 at approximately 11 a.m. Troop B conducted a motor vehicle stop on Belden Street in Falls Village. As a result of the investigation, the passenger, Katherine Libby, 29, of Falls Village was found in possession of 62 bags of heroin and .01 ounces of marijuana. Drug paraphernalia was found in the glove compartment of the driver, Matthew Garritt Delmolino, 35, of Salisbury. Delmolino was charged with possession with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding and operating without a license. Libby was charged with possession with intent to sell and possession of a controlled substance. They are both scheduled to appear in Torrington Superior Court on June 26.

Larceny under investigation

Troop B is investigating a reported larceny of three Stihl chainsaws, three Stihl demosaws and one Hitachi core drill from a barn at 135 Dugway Road in Falls Village. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Troop B.

Operating under the influence

On June 13 Susan Ann Mitchell, 56, of Winchester turned herself in on an arrest warrant. She was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence. Mitchell is scheduled to appear in Torrington Superior Court on June 27.

Unsafe movement

On June 13 at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Route 219 in Barkhamsted a 2007 Nissan Titan driven by David Anthony Amato, 29, of Torrington accelerated rapidly from a four–way intersection and lost control, striking a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by John Paul Jones, 54, of Pleasant Valley, Conn. Neither driver was injured. Amato was issued an infraction for unsafe movement from a start.

Two employees who opened a suspicious package were hospitalized as a precaution. They have since been released.

Keith Raven Johnson

SHARON — Keith Raven Johnson, a long-time resident of Sharon, died on April 26, 2025, a month after his 90th birthday, at Geer Rehabilitation and Long -Term Care facility in Canaan.

He was born on March 21, 1935, in Ithaca, New York, the son of John Raven Johnson and Hope Anderson Johnson.
