Psychic medium at Beekley Library

NEW HARTFORD — The Licia & Mason Beekley Memorial Library hosted a free psychic medium reading featuring Debbie Gutierrez on Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Along with her work as a psychic medium, Gutierrez is also a nurse, certified life and intuitive coach, and author of the soon-to-be-released book, “The Investigation of the SELF.”

The psychic medium reading was open to 10 people, and all slots were filled for the event. The event was followed by tarot readings by Allison Moro.

Gutierrez has resided in Barkhamsted for the past five years and says nature plays a huge role in her inspiration for choosing psychic work.

“This community is really open,” she said after the event. “Since I moved to Barkhamsted, that’s when I really started to develop more. We don’t have the business of a city, traffic and noise, and there’s so much nature,” she said. “Nature speaks to us in a whole different language and opens us up in a whole different way. When I take trails and hike, as I often do with my Great Dane and husband, it’s really connecting to the spirit on a whole other level, and it’s really healing from the inside out.”

After psychic medium readings, Gutierrez is often asked how she brings herself back from channeling such a great amount of energy.

“I get myself out in nature. I eat a vegan diet, I do yoga and I journal a lot,” she said.

In Gutierrez’s upcoming book, she hopes to connect with those looking to explore a deeper level of spirit by sharing her own personal experiences. Gutierrez has worked in law enforcement as a state trooper, training instructor and in a forensic lab. When an injury led to an early retirement, she sought out direction for a new path in life.

Gutierrez said her investigative nature led her to questioning the reason for such abilities, until she had an “open and heightened awakening,” which brought her great acceptance. Gutierrez says she is very happy with where she is today. “It fills me with a passion that is indescribable.”
