Salisbury Winter Sports Association ski swap and sale Dec.1

SALISBURY— The Salisbury Winter Sports Association will host its annual Ski Swap ‘n Sale on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Lakeville Hose Company.

Residents can bring equipment to be sold on Friday, Nov. 30, from 4 to 7 pm. No equipment will be accepted on Saturday. As always, the sale on Saturday will run from 8 to 11 a.m. From 11am to noon, residents can pick up their money or unsold equipment. Any remaining equipment after noon on Saturday will become the property of SWSA.

A large part of our sale involves new winter sports equipment and winter clothing at bargain basement prices: Ski hats, gloves, goggles, socks, as well as downhill and cross-country skis, boots and bindings will be available. Snow shoes, parkas and other winter wear will also be for sale at discount prices.

Of course there will be the usual inventory of used equipment: skates from $2 and up, skis and snow boards starting around $50 and ski boots for $10 and up.

Equipment eligible for sale includes downhill skis, boots and poles; cross-country skis, boots and poles; ice skates and hockey equipment; snowboards and boots and snowshoes. No clothing donations are accepted. 

The Lakeville Hose Company will offer coffee and donuts for sale.

On Saturday, Nov. 1, the Race Brook Lodge in Sheffield will celebrate the Mexican Day of the Dead: El Día de los Muertos.

Mexican Day of the Dead takes place the first weekend of November and honors los difuntos (the deceased) with ofrendas (offerings) on an altar featuring photos of loved ones who have passed on. Elements of earth, wind, fire and water are represented with food, papel picada (colorful decorative paper), candles and tequila left for the beloved deceased. The departed are believed to travel from the spirit world and briefly join the living for a night of remembrance and revelry.
