State police make drug bust at McDonald's

WINSTED — Three people were arrested March 16, accused of dealing drugs in the McDonald’s parking lot. The arrests followed an investigation by Connecticut State Police.

Steven Surowiecki, 20, of Winsted was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drugs in a school zone, conspiracy to sell drugs and having a weapon in a vehicle.

Brian Moon, 18, of New Hartford was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, conspiracy to sell drugs and possession of drugs within a school zone.

Shane McGivern, 20, of Lakeville was charged with possession of marijuana, sale of marijuana, conspiracy to sell drugs and possession of drugs in a school zone.

Bond for Surowiecki was set at $5,000. Bond for Moon and McGivern was $2,500.

They are all to appear in Bantam Superior Court March 29.

On Tuesday, April 9, The Bardavon 1869 Opera House in Poughkeepsie was the setting for a talk between Elizabeth Lesser and Anne Lamott, with the focus on Lamott’s newest book, “Somehow: Thoughts on Love.”

Lesser, an author and co-founder of the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, interviewed Lamott in a conversation-like setting that allowed watchers to feel as if they were chatting with her over a coffee table.

The home in Sharon that Alexandra Peters and her husband, Fred, have owned for the past 20 years feels like a mini museum. As you walk through the downstairs rooms, you’ll see dozens of examples from her needlework sampler collection. Some are simple and crude, others are sophisticated and complex. Some are framed, some lie loose on the dining table.

Many of them have museum cards, explaining where those samplers came from and why they are important.
