Superintendent's Award: Sharon

Region One schools this week announced the names of students who have earned the annual Superintendent’s Awards. Below is the write-up sent by Sharon Center School to the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents, which organizes the annual award.

“Wayne is an eighth-grader and proves himself to be an industrious young man.

“He plays the trumpet in the school band and has performed in several of the school’s drama productions.

“He has also been part of the Sharon TriArts Youth Theater program for several years and was an actor in their Young Playwrights Festival this past summer.

“Whether on stage or off, Wayne’s comical and friendly character shines through. He also plays on the school’s soccer and baseball teams.

“He is a friend to everyone and is always willing to help out.

“Outside of school, Wayne likes to ride his dirt bike and enjoys RC [remote control] racing. He is a member of Sharon Boy Scout Troop 24 and plans to go to college to become a mechanic.
