Sweet William's off to Salisbury

FALLS VILLAGE — The bad news is that the early Saturday morning ritual of heading to Sweet William’s bakery will soon be a memory in Falls Village. The good news is two-fold: Jason Young and Sharon Hamilton will continue to offer fresh-baked goods at a new retail location in nearby Salisbury, and the wholesale baking operation will remain in Falls Village.

In fact, the good news has another fold: The business is expanding to the point of hiring new staff.

The Falls Village location was never intended to be a retail store, Young said. And while Sweet William’s prospered, the storefront at 19 Main St. in Salisbury (most recently home to the Scoops ice cream parlor) will be much more visible.

“This location is so remote and rather limited, said Young of his space off Main Street, near Town Hall.

Hamilton said business has increased steadily in the last six to eight months.

“I think people are deciding to buy locally when they do buy, added Young.

Hamilton said she had already broken the news to one customer who is particularly fond of the pies.

“I told him he’ll just have to buy four at a time now.

The new store is tentatively slated to open at the end of June or beginning of July.
