I have faithfully attended Board of Education meetings for over four years. I have a very good understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a board member. A brief statement:


"Quality of Life" is a big reason why my family is here. Like so many other things worth having, it doesn’t just happen; it takes work. It’s clear to me that many Norfolk citizens work to keep this a special place. I would appreciate the opportunity to be part of that tradition as a BOE member.

My wife, Sachi, and I are currently doing our level best to raise four children: Amelia (9), Jake (5), Samantha (3) and Kyle (1) in Norfolk.

While I have not served formally on any boards in Norfolk (except the Republican Town Committee) I have faithfully attended many meetings of the various boards to video record them for Public Access Channel Six. That experience has made me very much aware of the happenings on each of the boards of finance, education, planning and zoning and, in particular, the Board of Selectmen.

 


A brief statement:


My main reason for running: to give the voters a choice. I support affordable housing, increasing the tax base and the establishment of an ethics commission, and providing better and more efficient services for our taxpayers. I would also like to see a tax freeze for longtime residents over 80.

This is a beautiful town where people know one another and work together for the benefit of their families and town. I’m committed to looking out for the residents, the elderly, the children, the veterans. This is a town where people stand by each other and I will stand by them.

I have lived in Norfolk for most of my life. I have been proud to serve since 2003 as selectman and will continue to do so if elected.

CORNWALL — On Sunday, May 25, Cornwall held a powerful ceremony to honor local veterans of the Revolutionary War.

At the cemetery on Route 4, about 25 attendees gathered to witness the placement of 10 grave markers. Bill Dinneen of the Cornwall Historical Society and Warren Stevens led the ceremony.

KENT — On Tuesday, May 20, Marvelwood School lacrosse defeated Woodhall School 15-9 in the Housatonic Valley Athletic League tournament final.

It was second straight HVAL championship win for the Pterodactyls and their fifth league title since 2018.

Mountaineers strike gold at BL track championships

HVRHS sophomore Ryan Segalla went three-for-three May 17 with Berkshire League gold in the 100m, 200m and 400m races. He was also on the gold-winning 4x400m relay team.

Berkshire League track and field wrapped up a season of competition with the league finals in Litchfield May 17. The BL festival followed with decathlon, heptathlon, steeplechase and hammer in Falls Village May 20 and Thomaston May 21.

The events included athletes from Housatonic Valley Regional High School, Gilbert School, Lakeview High School, Nonnewaug High School, Northwestern Regional High School, Shepaug Valley High School, Terryville High School and Thomaston High School.
