Driveway drive ends in sign collision

John Santarsiero, 62, of East Canaan told troopers that he was driving around in his Route 44 driveway in his Chevrolet Silverado on the evening of May 9 when he got distracted and ran into a road sign stating “Do Not Pass” located on the corner of his driveway. Troopers issued Santarsiero a written warning for “distracted driving other than handheld device.”

Wellbeing check leads to warrant discovery

On May 10, troopers were conducting a wellbeing check at the residence of David Fendley, 37, on North Street in Norfolk when they found he had an active warrant for his arrest for failure to appear in the second degree. The original charges, dated June 3, 2018, were for “illegal operation of a motor vehicle under suspension” and “traveling unreasonably fast.” Fendley was released on a $2,500 surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Torrington Superior Court on May 23.

Domestic disturbance arrest

At approximately 10:15 p.m. on May 11, troopers were dispatched to a residence on Prospect Mountain Road in Salisbury on reports of an active disturbance between a father and daughter. After investigating, troopers arrested Gregory Sephton, 65, for “disorderly conduct.” He was released the next day on a $500 non-surety bond and was scheduled to appear in Torrington Superior Court the same morning.

Driver passed-out in intersection

Just before midnight on May 11, troopers responded to a report of a passed-out male driver in a Subaru Outback at the intersection of Route 41 and Herrick Road in Sharon. The driver was found to be Dylan McAllister, 30, of Stamford, who admitted on scene to drinking beers before driving the vehicle. McAllister failed a field sobriety test, and was arrested for “operating under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.” McAllister was released on a $500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Torrington Superior Court on May 27.

Truck brings down wires

Jeffrey Eaton, 75, of Johnstown, New York was driving a company truck on Daisy Hill Road in North Canaan on the evening of May 13 when the bed of the truck, which had never been lowered after releasing its load, struck utility wires over the roadway. The incident snapped two utility poles and left wires down on the road, which was closed along with Patty Lane for approximately two hours. Eaton was issued a citation for “excessive height of vehicle.”

Suspected fleeing after parking lot fender-bender

On May 15, Colin Kennedy of Sharon parked his 2016 Hyundai Genesis in the North Main Street shopping plaza parking lot and left the vehicle unoccupied. Sometime between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., the Genesis received functional damage to the driver’s side rear bumper, believed to have been caused by another vehicle. If found, the driver of the vehicle in question will be issued a misdemeanor summons for “evading responsibility.” Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Trooper Howell #320 at Troop B, 860-626-1820.
