MILLERTON — Beverly A. Jenks, 68, a lifelong resident of Millerton, passed away on June 8, 2011, at home.She was born in North Canaan on March 21, 1943, the daughter of the late Helen (Liner) and Frank Jenks.Ms. Jenks worked for Becton Dickinson Co. in North Canaan for more than 20 years.She loved all animals, especially her beloved Jack Russell terrier, Snowman. She also enjoyed cooking and word puzzles, and was a fan of The Worldwide Wrestling Federation. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Rosemary Jenks; a nephew, Matthew Jenks of Millerton; her cousin and best friend, Maralyn Marshall of Hyde Park, N.Y.; and many more cousins and friends.She was Aunt Bev to those who knew and loved her.She was predeceased by a brother, Roger Jenks.The funeral service and burial will be at the convenience of the family.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dutchess County SPCA, 568 Violet Ave., Hyde Park, NY 12538. School spirit on the rise at Housy

As homecoming week reaches its end and fall sports finish out the season, an air of school spirit and student participation seems to be on the rise across Housatonic Valley Regional High School.

But what can be attributed to this sudden peak of student interest? That’s largely due to SGA. Also known as the Student Government Association, SGA has dedicated itself to creating events to bring the entire student body together. This year, they decided to change some traditions.

The weekend of Homecoming at HVRHS was packed with events including rival games under the lights, senior night, and a new take on Homecoming that moves it outside — and it wouldn’t have been possible without the students of Housatonic.

Orchestrating was no easy feat, especially considering much of the work was left up to the students.
