BOE to hire new principal

WEBUTUCK — Members of the Board of Education interviewed candidates to replace current Eugene Brooks Middle School principal Jerry Husted before their meeting Monday, June 1.

Husted, who retired from the Wappingers school district several years ago, was hired as an emergency appointment in late August to replace Scott Richards, who resigned that summer.

Husted was supposed to serve temporarily until the board hired a new principal.

In early October, members of the board were scheduled to conduct interviews at a meeting. However, they did not attend the meeting because they were not available.

In early November, Husted was hired by the board to serve out the remainder of the year.

There was no discussion of the results of the most recent interviews during the board’s meeting on Monday. However, board president Dale Culver said that an announcement would be made soon.

The home in Sharon that Alexandra Peters and her husband, Fred, have owned for the past 20 years feels like a mini museum. As you walk through the downstairs rooms, you’ll see dozens of examples from her needlework sampler collection. Some are simple and crude, others are sophisticated and complex. Some are framed, some lie loose on the dining table.

Many of them have museum cards, explaining where those samplers came from and why they are important.
