Business Profile Pop Culture Cafe

TORRINGTON —  Pop Culture Internet Cafe is located at 1057 East Main St.,  the former home to Lin’s Internet Cafe.

The restaurant offers an unusual menu that includes customer favorite tapioca bubble tea.

Hans Schneider and Kellie Nadeau have managed Pop Culture since it opened in late February.

Schneider and Nadeau, who are engaged to be married, said they have fought hard to keep Pop Culture “a well-oiled machine.”

Schneider has had a lifelong interest in cooking as his mother attended the Culinary Institute in Hyde Park, N.Y. “I spent most of my childhood on the campus,” he said.

Local artwork and record albums cover the walls and free Wi-Fi draws customers into Pop Culture for meetings and even job interviews, Schneider said.

The creative menu includes bubble tea, homestyle comfort food options and even hand-cut fries.

“We do half-pound burgers, paninis and wraps, sausage and peppers and Philly cheesesteak, salads and fruit bowls,” Schneider said.

“We’ve met so many great people and so many loyal customers,” Nadeau added.

The two have just received a high-end karaoke machine and hope to have Friday night karaoke at Pop Culture.

The restaurant is open from 6:30 a.m. until 10 p.m Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays.
