Carl D. Stewart

MILLERTON — Carl D. Stewart, 57, a lifelong resident of Millerton, died peacefully on April 28, 2015, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie with his loving family by his side.

Mr. Stewart worked for Spadaccini & Son Moving Inc. of Millerton, River Management of Copake  and  most recently at Ronnybrook Farms in Acramdale. 

Born Aug. 12, 1957, in Catskill, N.Y., he was the son of the late Opal (Rosas) and Bruce Stewart. He attended Larchmont High School in California and Webutuck High School in the town of North East. 

On Aug. 12, 1995, he married Joan M. Breyette. Mrs. Stewart survives at home.

Mr. Stewart was a hard worker and enjoyed spending time with his family. He also loved taking care of his dogs, Corona and Diesel. 

Mr. Stewart is survived by his five children, Brent, Justin, Crystal and Mary Breyette and her husband, Robert Spadaccini, and Karen Slater and her husband, Timothy; a brother, Michael Rosas; a sister, Debra Kinzinger; several grandchildren; a nephew, Austin Lovett; and a niece, Brianna Rosas.

There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, May 6, at 11 a.m. at Faith Bible Chapel of Shekomeko at 22 Silver Mountain Road in Millerton, the Rev. William Mayhew officiating. 

Memorial donations may be made to the family of Carl Stewart, 6072 Route 22, Millerton, NY 2546. 

Arrangements are under the direction of the Scott D. Conklin Funeral Home in Millerton.

Opening on Sept. 26, Agatha Christie’s legendary whodunit “The Mousetrap” brings suspense and intrigue to the Sharon Playhouse stage, as the theater wraps up its 2025 Mainstage Season with a bold new take on the world’s longest-running play.

Running from Sept. 26 to Oct. 5, “The Mousetrap” marks another milestone for the award-winning regional theater, bringing together an ensemble of exceptional local talent under the direction of Broadway’s Hunter Foster, who also directed last season’s production of “Rock of Ages." With a career that spans stage and screen, Foster brings a fresh and suspense-filled staging to Christie’s classic.

Plein Air Litchfield returns for a week of art in the open air

For six days this autumn, Litchfield will welcome 33 acclaimed painters for the second year of Plein Air Litchfield (PAL), an arts festival produced by Art Tripping, a Litchfield nonprofit.

The public is invited to watch the artists at work while enjoying the beauty of early fall. The new Belden House & Mews hotel at 31 North St. in Litchfield will host PAL this year.
