Community Conversation: Housing talk scheduled for April 12

MILLERTON — Come Friday, April 12, the North East Community Center (NECC) in Millerton will partner with Hudson River Housing to host a Community Conversation on “Housing: A Key to a Strong Local Community.”

Designed as a regional approach for rural communities such as the towns of North East, Amenia and Pine Plains, the Community Conversation will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the American Legion Post 178 building, located at 155 Route 44 in Millerton.

Given the impact of housing on economic development planning, representatives from the NECC and Hudson River Housing will organize roundtable discussions with local leaders in business, government and nonprofits to talk about the connections between housing and economic development. Attendees will also be invited to listen in on presentations on workforce and affordable housing opportunities as presented by regional housing experts.

Along with facilitating an afternoon interactive working session to gather insights and apply them to local issues, the conversation will aid in the development of a regional housing leadership team to carry the work forward.

The Community Conversation is free of charge; to register online, go to www.eventbrite.com.

For more information, contact NECC at 518-789-4259.
