Cow chip contest and more at ag fair on Sept. 12

CORNWALL — The 24th annual Cornwall Agricultural Fair is set for Saturday, Sept. 12, 10 a.m. to 4 pm. on the village Green.

The spotlight this year is on Hedgerows Farm, which will be the subject of a special exhibit at Town Hall.

Town Hall and the Green will be brimming with demonstrations, vendors and booths showing off all of Cornwall’s rich farming culture. There will be old-fashioned games, hay rides, a petting zoo, classic cars, log sawing —and coveted jams, jellies and relishes for sale.

This is a chance for residents to show off their backyard gardening skills, as well as their excellent baking, canning, flower arranging, needlecrafts, art and — new this year — a decorated T-shirt contest with prizes for the most original, prettiest, let your imagination go wild and more.

One of the highlights as always will be the Cornwall Volunteer Fire Department’s cow chip bingo at 3 p.m., where some lucky ticket holders will win cash prizes.
