Fall fun, food, antiques and more at the 2019 Home Source Show

MILLBROOK — As September draws to a close, the now-traditional Home Source Show will once again be held on the Millbrook Band Shell grounds, with old friends and new additions. The show is sponsored by Jimmy Crisp Architects, the brain child of Crisp starting about 14 years ago. After having been involved in a similar event, the realization hit that having an event to benefit home owners and vendors gathered in one place was a good idea — especially in an area where everything is so spread out.

Program Coordinator Annette Santa Croce said the show has something for everyone, and some surprises as well. It’s become a day-long event of fun, food, vendors and great ideas.

Furniture makers, masons, tool sharpeners, plasterers and cabinet makers will all be in attendance. There will also be new ideas in solar solutions, technology, the latest lighting trends and eco-friendly building products.

If gardening is a favorite, there will be Plant Me a Rainbow, a new type of gardening especially designed for homes in this part of the country. There will also be companies that specialize in garden fountains and pond treatments, gardening equipment and anything else needed to enhance the garden experience.

Shutters, patios, decks and hardware will all be shown at the show. There will also be music throughout the day with local favorite, pianist Larry Ham, playing most of the day and from 1 to 1:30 p.m. another favorite, the local A Capella chapter of the International Sweet Adelines, will take the stage.

Antique lovers will want to preview the many items that will be up for bid by the Millbrook Auction Center. They will be on display starting at 10 a.m., and the bidding will be starting at 3 p.m., lasting until 5 p.m.

Readers can meet author Terrence McCauley, local writer of detective fiction. He’ll be on hand all day to discuss murder and mayhem, sign books and share information about his work.

For the foodies in the family, there will be treats such as Zoe’s Home Made Ice Cream, and local products such as cheese, wine, vodka and offerings from many of the local restaurants, farms, vineyards and bakeries. Look for samplings from Clinton Vineyards, B’s Cheese and so many more.

Artists will be painting for show-goers’ pleasure and to sell some of their works in the Plein Air event; bids for their works will be accepted until 4:45 p.m.

While most of the events are geared toward the adults, children have not been forgotten. There will be a jumping castle, as well as pumpkin decorating and a scavenger hunt hosted by Further Up, Further In Photography, which promises to be a great deal of fun.

An Antique Car Showcase by Wheels of Time and a fly fishing demonstration by Orvis Sandanona will appeal to many.

The 2019 Home Source Show promises to be bigger and better than ever before, so pack up the family on Saturday, Sept. 28, spend the day and plan to leave with plenty of ideas.
