Harold B. Hill Sr.

PINE PLAINS — Harold B. Hill Sr., 82, passed away Dec. 2, 2011, at the Pine Haven Nursing Home in Philmont, N.Y.He was born on May 9, 1929, in Gallatin, N.Y., the son of the late Laura (Kilmer) and Robert Hill.On Sept. 5, 1948, in Gallatin, he married Kathaleen O’Grady. She survives him at home.Harold attended Pine Plains schools.He worked as a custodian for 14 years at The Hotchkiss School and previously spent many years in the grocery business.He was an avid car enthusiast.In addition to his loving wife, Kathaleen, he is survived by his children, Harold B. Hill Jr. and his wife, Dorothy Lutz, of Pine Plains, June Dykeman and her husband, Charles, of Pine Plains and Jean Johnson and her husband, Richard, of Pine Plains; three grandchildren, Melissa Bowen, Richard Johnson Jr. and Donald Thorpe Jr.; four great-grandchildren, Kayla and Kelsey Bowen, Brian Johnson and Michael Calabrese; a brother, Melvin Hill and his wife, Edith, of Staatsburg; and several nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Petty, and two brothers, Howard Hill and Robert Hill Jr.Arrangements are under the care of the Peck and Peck Funeral Home in Pine Plains. Funeral services were held at the funeral home Dec. 6, the Rev. Bill Mayhew officiating.
