Kenneth J. Thompson

WASSAIC — Kenneth J. Thompson, 84, a longtime resident of Wassaic, died Sept. 11, 2011, at Sharon Health Care Center. Mr. Thompson was a self-employed carpenter for over 20 years. He was born Nov. 11, 1926, in Kent, the son of the late Myrtle (Mitchell) and Howard Thompson. He married Margaret Murphy on June 28, 1947, in Amenia. She died on Dec. 29, 2010. Mr. Thompson is survived by six daughters, Linda Winchcombe and her husband, Fred, of Wassaic, Nancy Nowak and her husband, John, of West Palm Beach, Fla., Sandra Corrigan of West Palm Beach, Patricia Millius and her husband, Robert, of Millerton, Deirdre Epstein and her husband, Steven, of New Milford, Conn., and Susan Thompson and her husband, Tony Raneri, of Louisville, Colo.; a sister, Myrtle Van Buskirk of Rhinebeck; five grandchildren, Sean Winchcombe, Andrew Nowak, Sara Chandra, Amanda Parker and Zachary Nowak; two great-grandchildren, Kira Winchcombe and Katelyn Chandra; and two nieces and a nephew.In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Thompson was predeceased by a brother, Robert Thompson.Calling hours will be held Friday, Sept. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Hufcut Funeral Home in Dover Plains. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Immaculate Conception Church, in Amenia. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
