Kildonan School’s first satellite tutoring center

STAMFORD, conn. — The Kildonan School in Amenia is opening its first satellite tutoring center. A private school for educating dyslexics, Kildonan now offers tutoring Monday through  Thursday, from 3 to 9 p.m., for those in the Stamford area at the Piccoli Family Tutoring and Consulting Center.

“Kildonan is launching this center because we see that the extraordinary education we provide at our Amenia campus isn’t accessible for elementary students who live too far to commute and for adult professionals and college students living and working in Fairfield County and Westchester,” said Headmaster Kevin Pendergast.  “In our half-century history, we have been asked many times to expand our services beyond our beautiful rural campus and to groups like adults who also seek empowerment as rising professionals with dyslexia. Kildonan’s Piccoli Center finally gives us a chance to answer some of that demand.”

The Piccoli Center faculty is Orton Gillingham-trained by a Fellow under the auspices of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. They hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and are supervised by The Kildonan School.

Continually reflective, the O-G  practitioner diagnoses the student’s needs and prescribes appropriate phonics and linguistics based interventions to build skills. Auditory, kinesthetic and visual modalities are used to support students’ language development.
