WINSTED — The Highland Lake Neighborhood Watch program will hold its next meeting Saturday, Aug. 22, beginning at 9 a.m. at Town Hall.
Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program that teaches citizens how to identify and report suspicious activity in their neighborhoods, focusing on observation and awareness as a means of preventing crime. It was founded in 1972 by the National Sherrifs’ Association.
At the meeting, Winsted Police Department’s Community Relations Officer Robert Varasconi will update lake residents on a handful of recent burglaries from boats in the area, according to Highland Lake Watershed Association President Richard Labich.
The talk is open to new watch members who might not have attended previous meetings, as well as the program’s regular members.
For more information on the Highland Lake Neighborhood Watch or to join the program, call Richard Labich at 860-738-0167.
