Notice is hereby given to the heirs, successors and assigns of Frederick A. Drumm, late of Cornwall, Connecticut, and any individual that purports to assert claims through Fredrick A. Drumm and/or his heirs, successors, or assigns, including without limitation George F. Drumm, Jr., Emily Mott, Caroline Ball, Harry Ball, Woodrow Ball, and Douglas W. Ball that on February 5, 2016, a legal action was commenced at the Superior Court for the Judicial District of Litchfield at Litchfield, 15 West Street, Litchfield, Connecticut, entitled Carl K. Oppenheimer, Melissa Ryan, et al. with return date of March 22, 2016, wherein the Plaintiff seeks a judicial decree partitioning a parcel of real property in which Frederick A. Drumm may own interests of record, which parcel of property is situated in the Town of Salisbury, County of Litchfield, and State of Connecticut.

NOTICE OF BENEFIT 
ASSESSMENTS
MAPLE STREET EXTENSION & SEGAR MOUNTAIN ROAD

Notice is hereby given that the Kent Sewer Commission, pursuant to Sections 7-249 and 7-250 of the General Statutes, has levied a Benefit Assessment against the properties, and the owners thereof, that have especially benefited by the construction of the Maple Street Sewer Extension. The benefited properties are located on Maple Street Extension and Segar Mountain Road.

Pursuant to Section 7-252 of the General Statutes, such benefit assessments shall be due and payable on February 1, 2016, provided however, that at the option of the property owner, such assessment, together with interest at the rate of 3.25% per annum on the unpaid principal balance, may, at the option of the owner, be paid in thirty (30) equal annual installments of principal and interest commencing February 1, 2016 and continuing on the first day of February of each year thereafter until February 1, 2046 at which time a final installment of principal and interest shall be due and payable.

If any such installment remains unpaid for thirty (30) days after the same shall become due, then at the option of the Commission, the entire unpaid balance of such benefit assessment, together with all unpaid interest, shall become immediately due and payable. In addition, the Commission shall have all of the rights provided by Section 7-254 of the Connecticut General Statutes, as amended, with respect to delinquent assessments.

The Tax Collector’s office will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday during the month of February. Payment is also welcome through the mail at P.O. Box 144, Kent, Connecticut 06757.

The Salisbury Historic Districts Commission will hold a public hearing on March 1, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. at Salisbury Town Hall, 27 Main Street,  Salisbury Ct. to act on a request from  the owners of 414 Salmon Kill Rd. to remove an existing garage and construct a new one with living space on the second floor. Plans are available to review in the town clerk’s office.

Homeowners Tax Credit Forms Available in the Sharon Assessor’s Office

Applications for property tax credit for elderly or totally disabled homeowners are available at the Assessor’s office. To qualify, a homeowner must meet the following criteria:

A homeowner must live in the home for which the credit is being sought and have owned the home on or before October 1, 2015.

A homeowner must have reached the age of 65 by the end of 2015, although totally disabled homeowners are eligible regardless of age.

The income limits are $35,200 for single homeowners and $42,900 combined income for married homeowners. 

Proof of all income for 2015 must be provided.  If an applicant files an Income Tax Return, a copy must be provided.  If an applicant receives Social Security benefits, a copy of the SSA 1099 form must be provided.

Filing deadline is May 15, 2016.

A Special Town Meeting of the electors and citizens qualified to vote in Town Meetings of the Town of Sharon, Connecticut, will be held at the Sharon Town Hall, 63 Main Street, Sharon, Connecticut, on March 4, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. for the following purposes: 

To see what action the Town will take with respect to the following: 

Approve the financial report for fiscal year ending June 30, 2015.

Approve the sale of Town owned property – Assessor Tax Map 18 Lot 10-1 – located off of West Cornwall Road.

Accept the bid price for the purchase of Assessor Tax Map 18 Lot 10-1 in the amount of $1,509.00 from Joseph Church.

Accept the bid price for the purchase of Assessor Tax Map 33 Lot 116 (Silver Lake Shores Lot #116) in the amount of $2,251.00 from Matthew K. Schwartz and Carol D. Hawran.

Accept the bid price for the purchase of Assessor Tax Map 33 Lot 117 (Silver Lake Shores Lot #110) in the amount of $2,251.00 from Matthew K. Schwartz and Carol D. Hawran.

Approve an additional expenditure of $55,600.00 out of the Equipment Replacement Account, as approved by the Board of Finance.

To consider and vote upon the expenditure of an amount not to exceed $1,860,000.00 for a transfer station, the amount being fifty percent (50%) of the total project cost with the remaining fifty percent (50%) to be covered by the Town of Salisbury, as approved by the Board of Finance.

Accept a Grant from the USDA in the amount of $343,863.00 towards the construction of the transfer station, as approved by the Board of Finance.

Accept a Loan from the USDA in the amount of $1,516,137.00 at an interest rate of 1.87% payable over 40 years with no prepayment penalty, as approved by the Board of Finance.

Approve the Loan Resolution concerning the above item.

To take any action deemed necessary and appropriate to come before said meeting.

Plein Air Litchfield returns for a week of art in the open air

For six days this autumn, Litchfield will welcome 33 acclaimed painters for the second year of Plein Air Litchfield (PAL), an arts festival produced by Art Tripping, a Litchfield nonprofit.

The public is invited to watch the artists at work while enjoying the beauty of early fall. The new Belden House & Mews hotel at 31 North St. in Litchfield will host PAL this year.
