Man is brought to safety after exhaustive search

AMENIA — A man who reportedly "endangered himself"
Monday is fine and receiving medical treatment, according to Dutchess County Sheriff’s Deputy TJ Hanlon.

The search for the man began Monday and stretched into the evening. Helicopters hovered over the area during the night.

By Tuesday afternoon, the search had narrowed and the man was eventually found and brought to safety.

"The search was in the areas of Perry’s Corner Road, Route 22, Coleman Station and Perotti Road," Hanlon said. "He eventually was discovered in the general area of Kildonan School sometime during the night."

Hanlon said members of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, the All-Terrain Vehicle patrol and Emergency Services Unit all coordinated with volunteers from the Amenia and Millerton fire departments and New York State Police.

The man’s identity and the details of the search and rescue were not released.
