Music on the Mountain raises $2,500 for HYSB

FALLS VILLAGE — Music Mountain, the oldest continually operating summer music chamber festival in the country, hosted the annual fundraiser for the Housatonic Youth Service Bureau (HYSB), “Music on the Mountain,” Saturday, June 4.The concert, which featured music students from the Northwest Corner, raised about $2,500 through sponsors and ticket sales. Students were chosen based on recommendations from either their school music teacher or an outside or private teacher. HYSB offers counseling, education, prevention programs and referrals free of charge to youth and families in the Northwest Corner of Connecticut. For more information about HYSB, call 860-824-4720. FALLS VILLAGE — Berkshire League basketball returned to Housatonic Valley Regional High School Tuesday, Dec. 16.

Nonnewaug High School’s girls varsity team beat Housatonic 52-42 in the first game of the regular season.

Moving company eyes Cornwall location

CORNWALL — At the Dec. 9 meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission, the commission had a pre-application discussion with Karl Saliter, owner of Karl on Wheels, who plans to operate his moving business at 26 Kent Road South, which is an existing retail space.

Saliter said he will use the existing retail section of the building as a mixed retail space and office, and the rear of the building for temporary storage during moving operations.
