Only one way to handle the dog days of summer

There are certain things that scream “summer!” For parents, it might be small children at the beach, or eating ice cream. For athletes, it might be cyclists on the road, swimmers traversing the area’s lakes, or tennis players dashing around outdoors in pursuit of the little yellow ball. But for the many dog lovers who live in this area, there is perhaps nothing that screams “dog days” so much as, well, a dog — especially if that dog has just emerged happily from a pond, a pool or a dousing with a hose. In August, The Lakeville Journal put out a call to readers to share photos of their favorite wet dogs. The response was so positive, that we will plan to make it an annual feature, and maybe even do snow dogs in December. Keep your camera handy!

Some are framed, some lie loose on the dining table.

Many of them have museum cards, explaining where those samplers came from and why they are important.
