At about 6:37 p.m., as he was crossing Route 44, the setting sun blinded him and caused him to drive onto the center dividing island. His 2004 Honda CR-V hit a “Keep Right” traffic sign. It sustained minor front-end damage. Zucco was not injured. He was given a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Rear-end collision

At about 2:18 p.m., the 2005 Ford Freestyle hit the rear of a 2013 Ford Econoline van driven by Danielle Ross, 74, of New Hartford. Ross was stopped at a red traffic signal at the end of the highway. The van is registered to Dattco Inc., of New Britain. There were no injuries to the drivers or Dimartino’s passenger, Cameron Dimartino, 3 months, of the same address or Ross’ passengers, Madeline Boutot, 14, of Hartland and Nicholas Dalpe, 16, of Barkhamsted. No enforcement was taken.

Leaf blower stolen

The Norfolk Resident State Trooper’s office is investigating the reported theft of a Stihl backpack leaf blower owned by the Norfolk Center Cemetery Association on Old Colony Road. The April 30 complaint is under investigation.

Collision in intersection

Two cars collided in the intersection of routes 44 and 219 in New Hartford at about 4:35 p.m. April 30. Both drivers claimed they had a green traffic signal. Suzanne Chamberlain, 65, of Pine Meadow was driving east on Route 44. Blake Marston 24, of Winsted was driving south on Route 219. There were no witnesses. The vehicles were moved prior to police arrival. The drivers and Marston’s passengers, Jacob Wolf, 19, of New Hartford, Amber Case, 24, of New Hartford and Jeremy Merdendah, 26, of Winsted were not injured. Chamberlain’s passenger, Barbara Steben, 88, of Canton, Conn., refused treatment at the scene for a minor knee injury. Chamberlain’s 2006 Honda Civic was towed with passenger front-side damage. Marston’s 2013 Dodge Charger sustained front-end damage but was not towed. No fault was found.
