Stop & Shop donates to Salvation Army

WINSTED —  Stop & Shop at Ledgebrook Plaza made a donation to the local branch of the Salvation Army on May 18.

At the check presentation, Winsted store manager Claudia Bunker along with Granby store manager Christine Willett presented $1,900 to the charity in order for 50 local children to attend Camp Connri in Ashford.

“This is an effort for Stop & Shop district 22, which includes 18 stores in the state,” Bunker said. “We all donated money to help support the charity. We donated money because it’s the right thing to do for the people in town. There are families in town who need an extra boost.”

Bunker said that in the past the store has made donations to the local soup kitchen.

“We are trying to cover all the bases in Winsted,” Bunker said.

“We are so overwhelmed with the support Stop & Shop has provided in helping these kids go to camp,” the Salvation Army Winsted Regional Service Coordinator Pam Carignan said. “This is a fabulous opportunity for children ages eight to 12 in the area to go to camp.”
