Town Board passes first resolutions of the year

AMENIA — The Town Board unanimously approved its first three resolutions of 2015 at its reorganization meeting on Friday, Jan. 2, following the organizational appointments.

Resolution No. 1 of 2015

The first resolution of the year authorizes town constables to carry firearms while conducting official duties.

The resolution authorized Chief Christopher Klingner to carry a Glock 23 .40 caliber and Glock 42 .380 caliber.

Jason Dean is authorized for a Glock 23 .40 caliber.

Brett Johnson is authorized for a Glock 22 .40 caliber and a Sig 1911 .45 caliber.

Duewayne Jackson is authorized for a Glock 17 .9 millimeter and a Smith & Wesson 915 .9 millimeter.

Councilperson Mike DeLango asked, “Why so many different firearms?”

“Because they pay for them themselves, the town hasn’t regulated which firearm they have to do and we don’t provide for them,” said Town Clerk Dawn Marie Klingner.

Resolution No. 2 of 2015

The second resolution served to adopt a town investment policy.

According to the resolution, Amenia is required by state law “to have an investment policy regarding such funds as it collects and administers throughout the year.”

The adopted policy is designed from a guideline provided by the New York State Comptroller’s Office.

Resolution No. 3 of 2015

The third resolution served to adopt “the Records Retention and Disposition Schedule MU-1, issued pursuant to Article 57-A of the Arts and Cultural Affairs Law, and containing legal minimum retention periods for local government records.”
