Webutuck students head to Boston

Eighth graders from Eugene Brooks Intermediate School took a class trip to Boston on Thursday and Friday, May 9 and 10. The students toured the city and recorded their activities, and some even shared their experiences with The Millerton News. Below is one of a series of three student reports.

WEBUTUCK — Overall I thought the Boston trip was an amazing experience, to see historical museums and bond with our classmates outside of school. Out of everything we did and saw in Boston, my favorite part was the Quincy Market and the New England Aquarium.

These two places were my favorite because I liked shopping, looking at all the animals and being with my friends. Our class thought that the Fire and Ice restaurant was good and we absolutely loved the hotel and its view.

I thought that Fenway Park was a very cool experience because we got to see the entire stadium, and I liked the Duck Boat Tour because it was on a duck boat, which is both a boat and a road vehicle.

For being just around a four hour ride, I thought the bus ride was super fun. I enjoyed riding on the bus and how they entertained us by playing trivia games and raffling off prizes.

Two of the most interesting things that I saw in Boston were the lightning show at the science museum and the exhibits dedicated to John F. Kennedy Jr.

I asked several of my classmates to tell me how they felt about Boston and the following is what each of them said. Amber Sands said, “I liked the aquarium because I got to see the animals.” Sarah Sheeley said, “I liked Fire and Ice because I got to hang out with my friends.” Cadance Shufelt said, “Boston was a really fun experience. I wish we did this every year.”

This trip to Boston was not only fun but definitely a trip I will also remember throughout the rest of my life. I would like to thank every staff member and sponsor for helping make this memorable trip happen and I can’t wait to do something like this again!

Anne Day is a photographer who lives in Salisbury. In November 2025, a small book titled “Les Flashs d’Anne: Friendship Among the Ashes with Hervé Guibert,” written by Day and edited by Jordan Weitzman, was published by Magic Hour Press.

The book features photographs salvaged from the fire that destroyed her home in 2013. A chronicle of loss, this collection of stories and charred images quietly reveals the story of her close friendship with Hervé Guibert (1955-1991), the French journalist, writer and photographer, and the adventures they shared on assignments for French daily newspaper Le Monde. The book’s title refers to an epoymous article Guibert wrote about Day.
