Arlene Alberg

COPAKE, N.Y. — Arlene Alberg, 71, died March 14, 2018, with her family at her side at Albany Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 3, 1947, in Buffalo, N.Y., the daughter of the late Norma (Kobes) Pullman and Frederick Pullman.

On Aug. 5, 1972, in Beacon, N.Y., she married Michael Neil Alberg. He survives at home.

She is also survived and loved by her children Brian Alberg of Valatie, N.Y., and his wife, Carey, and Kelly Vanderhoof of Oscoda, Mich.; her grandchildren, Brendan, Megan and Grace Alberg and Harry Vanderhoof III and his wife, Jessica, Mark Paul, and Clara Jean Vanderhoof; and one great-grandson, Bradley Roy Vanderhoof. Also surviving is her father, Frederick of Kingston, N.Y.; her sister, Priscilla Peterossi of Fishkill, N.Y.; her brother, David Pullman, of Vermont; and several nieces and nephews.

The family moved from Poughkeepsie 40 years ago to raise their children in the country. She loved the tranquility of life on their hill. She retired from the Taconic Hills School District in 2010.

Her passion was knitting and she was truly a “master,” creating works of art for her family and friends.

She adored animals, and family dogs were treasured family members. She was also talented in the kitchen and her bread-and-butter pickles and pumpkin bread will be missed by those lucky enough to have enjoyed them. She and Neil loved going to local restaurants and were longtime fixtures at the Swiss Hutte.

At her request there will be no memorial service at this time but the family hopes to celebrate her life at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA, 111 Humane Society Road, Hudson, NY 12534.
